1. Introduction and Acceptance

These Booking Terms govern all reservations made through rentathenscar.com for car rental services in Athens, Greece and the surrounding Attica region. By completing a booking on this website, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms in full.

rentathenscar.com acts as an intermediary platform connecting travelers with licensed car rental suppliers operating in Athens. The platform facilitates the reservation process but the rental contract itself is formed between you and the supplying rental company at the time of vehicle collection. Where a conflict exists between these terms and the supplier's own rental agreement, the supplier's agreement governs vehicle-specific conditions while these terms govern the reservation and cancellation process.

We reserve the right to update these Booking Terms at any time. Changes take effect from the date of publication. Your continued use of the site after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

2. Eligibility Requirements

Minimum Age

The minimum age to rent a standard vehicle through rentathenscar.com is 21 years. Drivers aged 21 to 24 are classified as young drivers and may be subject to a daily young driver surcharge, typically between EUR 5 and EUR 10 per day depending on the supplier and vehicle category. Drivers aged 25 and over are not subject to any age-related surcharge.

For premium, luxury, or large 7-seater vehicles, the minimum age requirement is 25 years. This restriction is imposed by the supplying rental company and cannot be waived.

Driving Licence Requirements

All drivers must hold a full, valid driving licence that has been held for a minimum of one year at the time of vehicle collection. Citizens of European Union member states may present their national driving licence. Visitors from non-EU countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia, and most Asian countries, are required to present both their national driving licence and a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) issued in their home country.

It is the driver's responsibility to obtain the appropriate IDP before travelling to Greece. Failure to present a valid IDP where required may result in the rental company refusing to release the vehicle with no right to a refund of any amounts already paid.

Additional drivers must also meet all eligibility requirements and must be present at the rental desk with their own valid driving licence and IDP where applicable. An additional driver fee may apply.

3. Bookings and Cancellations

Making a Reservation

Reservations are made through the booking widget on rentathenscar.com. Once you submit your booking details and confirm, you will receive a booking confirmation by email. This confirmation constitutes a reservation and does not guarantee vehicle availability unless explicitly stated as confirmed by the supplier.

Most bookings on this platform operate on a pay at pickup basis, meaning no payment is charged to your card at the time of reservation. You are simply securing the rate and availability. Some promotional or discounted rates may require partial or full prepayment - this will be clearly indicated before you confirm.

Free Cancellation Policy

Reservations cancelled more than 48 hours before the scheduled pickup time are cancelled at no charge. No cancellation fee applies and, where a prepayment was taken, a full refund will be processed within 5 to 10 business days to the original payment method.

Reservations cancelled within 48 hours of the scheduled pickup time may be subject to a cancellation fee equivalent to one day's rental at the rate booked. This fee is retained by the supplying rental company and is not charged by this platform.

No-Show Policy

Failure to collect the vehicle at the agreed time and location without prior cancellation will be treated as a no-show. No-shows are non-refundable. If you anticipate a delay due to a flight delay at Eleftherios Venizelos Athens International Airport or other circumstances beyond your control, please contact the rental supplier directly using the contact details provided in your booking confirmation.

Modifications

Changes to pickup or return dates, times, or locations are subject to availability and may result in a revised rental rate. Modification requests must be submitted at least 48 hours before the original pickup time and are not guaranteed.

4. Pricing and Payment

Displayed Currency and Prices

All prices displayed on rentathenscar.com are shown in Euros (EUR). The price shown at the time of booking is the price you pay - there are no dynamic price changes after confirmation. Prices are inclusive of basic third-party liability insurance and the vehicle category selected.

What Is Included

Standard rental rates include: the vehicle for the booked period, basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with an excess amount, third-party liability insurance as required under Greek law, roadside assistance within mainland Greece, and unlimited mileage where indicated on the booking.

Optional Extras

The following optional extras can be added at the time of booking or at the rental desk, subject to availability:

• Child seats (infant, toddler, and booster) - available on request at no extra cost on most bookings
• GPS navigation unit - EUR 5 to EUR 8 per day
• Additional driver - EUR 5 to EUR 7 per day
• Full coverage upgrade (zero excess) - rate varies by vehicle category
• Roof rack or ski equipment holder - seasonal availability

Fuel Policy

The default fuel policy for most vehicles is full-to-full, meaning the vehicle is collected with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. Failure to return the vehicle with a full tank will result in a refuelling charge applied by the supplier at commercial pump rates plus a service fee. Pre-purchased fuel options may be available at some supplier locations.

Payment Methods and Deposit

rentathenscar.com partners accept debit cards (Visa and Mastercard) for the majority of vehicle categories. No deposit hold is applied on standard bookings confirmed through this platform. On certain vehicle categories or with specific suppliers, a pre-authorisation hold may be placed on your card at pickup as a security deposit; this will be released within 7 to 14 business days after the vehicle is returned in acceptable condition. Any applicable deposit requirements will be clearly disclosed before you confirm your booking.

5. Vehicle Use Rules

All vehicles rented through this platform must be used in accordance with the following conditions. Breach of these rules may void your insurance cover and result in you being held personally liable for damage, loss, or third-party claims.

• Lawful use only: The vehicle must be operated in compliance with all applicable Greek traffic laws and regulations, including speed limits on the Attiki Odos motorway, the Athens ring road, and urban roads within the municipality of Athens.
• Authorised drivers only: Only drivers named in the rental agreement and listed on the booking confirmation may operate the vehicle. Allowing an unauthorised third party to drive constitutes a material breach of the agreement.
• No off-road use: Vehicles are not to be driven on unpaved tracks, dirt roads, or terrain for which they are not designed, unless the vehicle is specifically categorised as an off-road or 4x4 model and the rental agreement expressly permits it.
• No racing or competitive use: Use of the vehicle in any racing, rally, speed test, or competitive driving event is strictly prohibited.
• No subletting: The vehicle may not be sublet, hired out, or made available for reward to any third party under any circumstances.
• No driving under the influence: Operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, narcotics, or any substance that impairs driving ability is prohibited and constitutes a criminal offence under Greek law.
• Cross-border travel: Taking the vehicle outside of Greece requires prior written approval from the supplying rental company. Unauthorised cross-border travel voids all insurance cover. Approved destinations are limited and ferry transport to Greek islands may be permitted subject to specific supplier rules.
• Smoking and pets: Smoking inside any rental vehicle is prohibited. Pets may be carried at the supplier's discretion but must be secured appropriately and any resulting cleaning charges will be levied against the renter.

6. Insurance and Liability

Basic Cover Included

All rentals booked through rentathenscar.com include basic Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and third-party liability insurance as required under Greek law (Law 2496/1997 on insurance contracts and relevant EU directives on motor insurance). CDW reduces your financial liability for damage to the rental vehicle in the event of an accident, subject to an excess amount.

Excess Amounts

The standard excess (the amount you are liable for in the event of damage) varies by vehicle category and supplier. Economy and compact vehicles typically carry an excess of EUR 500 to EUR 800. Larger vehicles, SUVs, and premium categories may carry excesses of EUR 1,000 or more. The applicable excess is displayed in your booking summary before confirmation.

Optional Full Coverage

Full coverage with zero excess is available as an upgrade on most vehicle categories. This eliminates your financial liability for damage to the rental vehicle, including tyres, glass, undercarriage, and roof damage in most circumstances. Full coverage does not cover personal injury (covered by separate personal accident insurance) or damage caused by wilful misconduct, intoxication, or breach of the rental agreement.

Exclusions

Insurance cover is void in cases of: driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, use by an unauthorised driver, off-road or prohibited use, cross-border travel without prior approval, and deliberate or reckless damage. In such cases the renter is personally liable for the full cost of repair, recovery, and any third-party claims.

7. Limitation of Liability

rentathenscar.com is a booking intermediary and does not own, operate, maintain, or control the rental vehicles listed on this platform. All vehicles are provided by independent, licensed rental suppliers operating in Athens and across Attica.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, rentathenscar.com's liability is limited to the total amount paid to this platform for the booking in question. rentathenscar.com is not liable for: vehicle mechanical failure or breakdown; acts or omissions of the supplying rental company; road conditions on specific routes including mountain roads near Parnitha or coastal routes along the Athens Riviera; delays caused by traffic on the Attiki Odos or Kifissos Avenue; loss of personal property left in the vehicle; or indirect, consequential, or incidental losses of any kind.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Governing Law and Disputes

These Booking Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hellenic Republic (Greece). Any dispute arising from or in connection with a booking made through rentathenscar.com that cannot be resolved amicably shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Athens, Greece.

Consumers resident in the European Union may also refer unresolved disputes to the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 524/2013.
